Australian Transit Enterprises (ATE) is regarded as one of Australia's leading providers of urban bus services. ATE has experienced rapid growth since its formation in 1995 in response to a number of state governments undertaking privatisation of bus services within their public transport systems.

Two respected bus operators - Grenda in Victoria and Hornibrook in Queensland - joined to participate in the competitive tendering process under the ATE banner and achieved significant success. The ATE group operates in South Australia, Western Australia, Victoria and Queensland, with more than 1000 buses, 15 depots and employment of more than 1500 drivers, mechanics and administration staff.

In April 2000, ATE was successful in securing a Government contract to run metropolitan services in Adelaide's south. SouthLink was established to provide these bus services.

ATE has built its success by working closely with government and regulators to develop urban bus services which respond to community needs in a way that balances the complex needs of government, passengers and employees.

The group has an ongoing commitment to the adoption of world-standard operating procedures, progressive training and development programs and the development and implementation of advanced technology, particularly in relation to vehicle safety.

Most recently, ATE was successful in securing a Government contract to run metropolitan services to the north of Adelaide.
